It reminds me of the way our own inner knowing often works. It is not always obvious. It does not always arrive loudly. Sometimes it is there beneath the surface, waiting for us to notice it from the right angle.

Black Onyx brings a very different feeling, but one that works beautifully with Labradorite. It is steady, grounding and protective in a quiet way. It does not try to compete with the flash of the Labradorite. It holds the centre.

That is what I love about this design. It feels like intuition and grounding together. The part of us that senses, and the part of us that steadies. The part that looks for the light, and the part that helps us stand firmly while we follow it.

Meaning & Symbolism

Labradorite has long been associated with intuition, transformation and hidden wisdom, while Black Onyx is often connected with grounding, protection, focus and emotional strength. I always like to hold these meanings gently, because each person connects with a stone in their own way, but in this piece the symbolism feels beautifully balanced.

This pendant is not about rushing forward or having every answer. It is about trusting the next step. Listening inward. Letting your own light show you where to go, while staying steady enough to walk the path in front of you.

It has a calm, quiet strength to it. The kind of strength that does not need to announce itself.

About the Design

This pendant has been designed in-house by Jennifer as part of the Enchantress Designs jewellery collection.

Every gemstone used in Enchantress Designs is chosen with intent. I choose stones not only because they are beautiful, but because of the feeling they bring, the symbolism they hold, and the way they help create the story of the finished piece.

For Midnight Compass, the Labradorite stones were chosen for their incredible blue flash, depth and natural internal markings. The Black Onyx was chosen to bring grounding, contrast and balance to the design. Together, they create a pendant that feels strong, elegant and deeply centred.

This pendant would be beautiful worn on a sterling silver chain against a simple neckline, where the shape and stones can really stand out.
