Silver Sheen Obsidian Beaded Bracelet – 10 mm
Volcanic Glass with a Hidden Silver Glow
Silver Sheen Obsidian has a quiet, mysterious beauty. At first glance, the beads may appear deep black, but as the bracelet moves beneath the light, soft silver bands and smoky flashes begin to emerge from within the stone.
The larger 10 mm beads allow this natural sheen to be seen clearly, creating a bracelet with depth, movement and understated drama. Some beads may show a broad silvery glow, while others reveal smaller flashes that appear only at certain angles.
Worn alone, it makes a strong and elegant statement. Layered with other gemstone bracelets, it adds contrast and a reflective quality that is distinctly its own.
About Silver Sheen Obsidian
Obsidian is a natural volcanic glass formed when silica-rich lava cools so quickly that mineral crystals do not have time to develop.
Unlike most rocks, which are made from visible mineral grains, Obsidian has an amorphous internal structure. This gives it its smooth, glass-like appearance and distinctive conchoidal fracture.
The silver sheen seen in this variety is created by countless microscopic gas bubbles or mineral inclusions aligned within the volcanic glass. When light reaches these tiny internal features, it reflects back as a soft silver glow.
The effect is not painted, coated or added to the surface. It is part of the stone itself and can appear stronger or weaker depending on the angle, lighting and orientation of each bead.
Important Obsidian deposits are found in areas with a history of volcanic activity, including Mexico, the United States, Iceland, Italy, Armenia and parts of Central America.
In modern crystal traditions, Silver Sheen Obsidian is often associated with reflection, grounding, protection and seeing situations more clearly. These interpretations belong to traditional symbolism and personal belief rather than scientifically established properties.

A Gentle Note
Every Silver Sheen Obsidian bracelet will display its own pattern and intensity of sheen.
Some beads may reveal strong, broad silver bands, while others show a softer smoky glow or small flashes visible only when turned beneath the light. Certain beads may appear almost entirely black from one direction and unexpectedly luminous from another.
Natural internal flow lines, tiny bubbles, subtle surface marks and changes in transparency are all part of the volcanic formation of Obsidian.
Because the sheen depends on the orientation of microscopic internal features, it may appear differently in natural daylight, warm indoor light or direct photography.
These variations are not imperfections. They are the result of rapidly cooled lava preserving movement, trapped gases and light within volcanic glass.
Care Instructions
Silver Sheen Obsidian has a hardness of approximately 5 to 5.5 on the Mohs scale. Although it can take a beautiful polish, it is softer than Quartz and may scratch or chip if struck against harder materials.
Avoid sharp impacts, drops onto hard surfaces and contact with abrasive jewellery. Keep the bracelet away from perfume, cosmetics, household chemicals, salt water and chlorinated water.
Clean with lukewarm water and a fragrance-free soap made with naturally occurring surfactants. Dry thoroughly with a soft microfibre cloth.
Avoid steam and ultrasonic cleaners. Store separately from harder gemstones and sharply faceted jewellery, and gently roll the bracelet over the hand rather than stretching the elastic excessively.
Because fractured Obsidian can form extremely sharp edges, discontinue wearing the bracelet if a bead becomes chipped or damaged.
Traditional Crystal Symbolism
Within contemporary crystal traditions, Silver Sheen Obsidian is often associated with grounding, reflection, energetic protection and the ability to recognise patterns that may otherwise remain hidden.
Its dark surface and shifting silver light are sometimes interpreted as symbols of self-examination, truth and the balance between what is visible and what lies beneath.
It is commonly linked with the Root Chakra, reflecting themes of stability, boundaries and connection with the physical world. Some traditions also associate its reflective sheen with insight and inner awareness.
These meanings are shared respectfully as part of modern crystal symbolism and personal belief. They are not scientifically established properties and should not replace appropriate medical, psychological or professional care.
Silver Sheen Obsidian is a reminder that darkness is not always empty. Sometimes it holds movement, depth and a quiet light that only appears when we take the time to look from another angle.
